Happy Thanksgiving Thursday to my friends in the South!
As usual, on this last Thursday of November, I'm seated comfortably on my couch. Hot coffee in hand...eyes glued to the TV watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS. Monkey Moo is beside me wrapped in a blanket, bored with all the commentary, but enthralled by the massive balloons and the various Broadway shows.
It still seems pretty surreal to me that I was actually in New York this time last year. Watching the parade live with 3.5 million others.
If you're a fan, there's nothing like being up close and personal with the balloons, the bands, the floats, other people's butts and underarms. Sure you get shoved around a bit, crammed in like a can of sardines, your legs start to feel like they're falling asleep, you start to smell things. But it's all good :)We were staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Broadway in Times Square, so we literally only had to step out of our hotel and we were smack dab in the middle of the parade route.
In fact, Mom decided to stay in and enjoy the parade from the comfort of our hotel room.
On the 44th floor, she was pretty high up, but with our amazing view + an open window, she was able to see and hear the parade coming up Broadway from a unique vantage point. My Sister and I on the other hand, decided to brave the crowd and the long wait. I think we went out at 6am and the streets were already getting squishy. The energy and excitement was phenomenal. Almost electric. Like nothing I've ever experienced before. We secured our spot and waited patiently for nearly 4-5 hours. We had crazy fun though. Soaking up the experience. Making friends with a few families from Long Island. A total blast.

I'll tell you a little secret though. As much as I loved being a part of it and wouldn't trade the experience for anything, I am more than happy to be watching it from my little spot on the couch. Once, live, was enough!
It was an insanely busy time of year there. Hard to really get around and see things. But the Macy's parade was what we went to New York for after all.
It's definitely my most favorite city in the world, and I can't wait to go back.
